Holiday Decoration Contest Judging and Award Ceremony

Time`s up, pencils down!

As of 10:00 AM CST this morning, the Holiday House Decoration contest judging has officially begun! Members of our Community and Development teams will be touring the ten finalists` homes today on the Holiday Contest Shard, and we`ll be selecting a winner based on things like festiveness, use of color and space, and originality. From what we`ve seen so far, this won`t be an easy choice!

The winners will be announced tomorrow evening (Thurs. Dec. 19 CST) during an in-game award ceremony held at the Skara Brae Community Center on the Holiday Contest shard. From 7:00 until 8:00 PM CST, everyone`s invited to come over and chat with dev and community team members at the Skara Brae Community center, as well as at the finalists` houses themselves (we`ve asked our folks to hang around not only at the Community Center, but the finalists` home as well to help alleviate the lag issues associated with too many people in one area). At 8:00 PM CST, we`ll announce the winners back at the Skara Brae Community Center. Winners will not have to be present to win - if the ceremony falls at an inconvenient time in other time zones, we`ll be sure to contact the winners by email.

We`ll be taking lots of screenshots of all of the decorated homes, and they`ll be featured in an upcoming Spotlight at UO.com. And now that the judging period has officially begun, we encourage folks to go visit these houses today and tomorrow to see some of the best of what UO decorators have to offer. Don`t delay, because it`s very possible that the Holiday Contest Shard may be wiped soon to become an internal testing shard for the upcoming Age of Shadows changes!

Remember, the Skara Brae Community Center is located in the town of Skara Brae, Trammel side, at sextant coordinates 45o 58`S, 49o 25`W (UOAM X 620 Y 2147). In case you`re still a little lost or not sure how to get started on the Holiday Contest shard, just follow these simple steps: (1) Create a new character on the Holiday Contest shard. (2) Choose the "Advanced" character type, adjust your character`s settings, and select Skara Brae as your starting city. You`ll find yourself just outside the Falconer`s Inn. (3) Walk north, and on the northern edge of Skara Brae you`ll find a large "+" shaped building-that`s the Skara Brae Community Center. It`s situated between the Skara Brae moongate to the northeast and the Skara Brae bank to the west. (4) You`ll find three moongates just in front of the building. These moongates will take you to the finalists` homes, which are placed in groups of two or three.

We hope to see many of you in-game tomorrow evening, and have a wonderful Holiday season!
